The German Nutrition Society was established in 1953 and it is non-profit organization dedicated to scientific facts. The German Nutrition Society is an authorized society and is not prejudiced by financial or political welfares. The DGE follows solely and straight charitable purposes as a listed connotation. The budget of the DGE with these units and projects amounted in 2015 to about 7.2 million euros. Funding is about one quarter of revenue from charges for writings and media fees for consultations, participants contributed to events and membership fees. At about three-quarters of the DGE is publicly funded by federal and state governments. The journal Nutrition Arrange meeting is the organ of the DGE. It delivers both investigators and nourishment expert latest results of scientific trainings and published monthly.
