The Moroccan Biosafety Association (AMABIOS)

The Biosafety Association Maroccan "AMABIOS" is a Non-Governmental Organisation Maroccan which aims to promote biosafety and biosecurity as a new multidisciplinary scientific discipline within the teachings Academics and scientific investigations in Morocco. AMABIOS fills a national shortage of qualified human resource capable of managing biological risks of accidental or deliberate kind. She aspires to contribute to strengthening the national policy in the implementation of codes of conduct in the handling, storage and transport of pathogens and the strengthening of Morocco's commitments to the International Conventions such as those related the non-proliferation of biological and toxin weapons (BTWC).

Our goal is also contributing to the preparation of future leaders in the field of safety and security and the dissemination of a culture of ethics of science and technology in the laboratories of research and development.

Very often, Morocco has sought to intervene in international forums within the United Nations to defend its interests on the Convention on Biological Weapons and Toxins, IAEA, UNSCR 1540 etc. Unfortunately, experience shows a huge lack of expertise in these areas, and it is this challenge that we count up creating AMABIOS.

Are, our ambition and to the expertise of our national members and partners of our international experts serving the public authorities in view to enable them to take appropriate decisions in biosafety and biosafety along the spectrum of biological risks and this in the following 3 components:

1. Develop and maintain professional standards in the field of biosafety;

2. Provide support for preventive communication of biological and biosafety, education and participation in the development of biological safety standards, guidelines and regulations;

3. Increase biosecurity awareness;

4. Promote the development of good working practices in laboratories in terms of equipment, hazardous waste facilities and management in view of reducing the risk of occupational diseases and the negative impact of infectious agents and materials of bio on our environment.
