Tuberculosis, commonly known as TB, is a bacterial infection that can spread through the lymph nodes and bloodstream to any organ in your body mostly lungs. Tuberculosis incidence rate in Spain is very High among developed countries.
It is reported that on an average 6500 people are newly diagonised of carrying tuberculosis. Which makes the rate of incidence of 13 cases per every 100 000 population.
The recommended treatment of new-onset pulmonary tuberculosis is six months of a combination of antibiotics containing rifampicin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol for the first two months, and only rifampicin and isoniazid for the last four months A number of medications are being studied for multi-drug resistant tuberculosis.
The safety and effectiveness of these new agents are still uncertain since they are result of limited studies.
