Aaron Marcus, President of Aaron Marcus and Associates, Inc. (AM+A), was graduated in physics from Princeton and in graphic design from Yale. In 1967, he became the world’s first graphic designer to work full-time with computer graphics at AT+T Bell Labs. In the early 1980s, he was a Staff Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, founded AM+A, and began research as a Co-Principal Investigator of a project funded by the US Department of Defense’s Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). In 1992, he received the National Computer Graphics Association’s annual award for contributions to industry. In 2007, he was named an AIGA Fellow. In 2008, he was elected to ACM’s CHI Academy. He is Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of User Experience and an Editor of Information Design Journal. Mr. Marcus has written over 350 articles; published 14 books, and, lectured, tutored, and consulted internationally for 45 years. He is a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Design, IIT, Chicago.


Mobile user-experience design and persuasion design, then summarizes key trends, including wearables, social media, gestures, etc.. He specifi cally discusses mobile conceptual designs for new kinds of mobile applicaitions (smartphones/ tablets with aassociated Web portals) that use information design and persuasion design to change people’s behavior. Mr. Marcus’ firm AM+A, has developed ten of these concepts since 2009 and has published all of them except the current one on which his team is working. Th ese include the Green Machine, the Health Machine, the Money Machine, the Story Machine, the Innovation Machine, the Travel Machine, the Learning Machine, the Driving Machine, Happiness Machine, and the Marriage Machine. To the extent that time permits, he will present excerpts from these projects.
