Title: Ayurveda in neurological disorder


Dr. Avinash shankar is the founder chairman of the Organization is a dedicated medical professional having firm determination for rural health care and global diversification of the Indian heritage AYURVEDA with scientific documentation. Dr Shankar graduated from Mahatma Gandhi Institute Of Medical Sciences, Sewagram, a premier medical institute of India rendering medical education oriented for rural health care with sincerity visiting professorships in USA, UK and Australia. Published and presented more than 200 original paper in national and international medical journals incluiding Current therapeutic research, USA, IJM today. Presented paper at national and international medical conference and also being associated with various medical journals as an editorial member or editor. Authored books- Hand book of poisoning , an unique composite of its kind and reviewed globally , Synopsis of treatment, quotes an holistic approach of healing for various disease, Longevity , a comprehensive composite to remain healthy, Pharmacological basis of indigenous therapeutics ( in press 6 volumes). Presently heading organization like- Leucoderma foundation of India, India Epilespsy Forum, Society for Endocrinal and Metabolic disease, Punarjeevan Bihar – organization working for creating awareness and research in breast cancer through our intiative PINK CHAIN headed by my son Dr Abhishek Shankar , Oncologiest at AIIMS and training to update the knowledge of grass root practitioner for better rural health care.


Neurological manifestations like Epilepsy, paralysis and neuropathies are very common and of poor therapeutic outcome,is prevalent encumbursum inspite of amrked advancement in diagnostic facility and a broad arena of therapeutics. Survey and study conducted by India Epilepsy forum affirms mental and physical debility among epileptics due to recurrent convulsion even with therapeutics and some succumbed to death. Paralysis either due to hypertension leading to Cerebrovascular accident(CVA),Lower motor neuron lesion(LMN) and spinal cord affliction inspite of various measures, quality of life even with treatment is not very much i, proved inspite of advanced diagnostic and physiotherapeutic measures. Conditions like brain stem lesion posses no option even in the present scenario of advances in medical and surgical sciences. As per documented literature neural cells are considered non regenerative and present therapeutics can help only in tissue preservation, degeneration or necrosis and apoptosis. Thus with an intent to provide some therapeutic response in the neurological disorder, role of Ayurveda is assessed at RA.
