Koseoğlu B G graduated from the Istanbul University, Faculty of Dentistry in 1989. She then completed a dental international exchange programme in England. In 1990, she joined the Istanbul University, Faculty of Dentistry in İstanbul, where today she is still Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from 2006. She is a member of the European Association of Osseointegration (EAO) and Turkish Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (TAOMS), as well as a recipient of the Scientific Researcher Awards [2011 and 2013] from the Istanbul University, Scientific Programme Center. She has authored more than 68 scientific papers, 46 oral and poster presentations in international congress and 2 books in the areas of local anesthesia (Dental Anesthesia in Dentistr Quintessences book 2007) and extraction of wisdom teeth (Enclused Teeth). In addition, she is still in the editorial board of Journal of Istanbul University, Faculty of Dentistry from 2006.
The development and new achievements in technology have opened the gate to the laser application in dentistry. Diode laser numerically presents one of the most common types of laser, whose use in dentistry is limited only to the soft tissues. The Er,Cr:YSGG laser has demonstrated its capability in hard tissue and soft tissue applications. Because of various advantages in ablation, decontamination, and hemostasis, laser treatment has been expected to serve as an alternative or adjunct to conventional techniques. The purpose of this study is to present treatment of different clinical cases with diode and ER,CR:YSSG laser. Pathological masses were submitted for histopathological evaluation. The healing was uneventful without signs of pain or any other complaints from the patients themselves.
