The comprehensive care to people living with HIV/AIDS in health services should include aspects of emotional-sexual life, condom use, helping them overcome the emotional, relational and socio-cultural barriers that come with seropositivity HIV, which interfere with the maintenance of safe sex. The goal was to identify adherence to condom use among people living with HIV/AIDS. Descriptive and quantitative study conducted in two specialized in the care of persons living with HIV/AIDS in Ribeirao Preto, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The study included 228 people living with HIV/AIDS, and 122 (53.5%) men and 106 (46.5%) women with a mean age of 39 years. Regarding the affective-sexual life, 152 (66.7%) of individuals with HIV/AIDS reported having a partner at the moment of the interview, and of these, 63 (27.6%) maintained relationships with uninfected partner by HIV and 56 (24.6%) lived with a partner also has HIV. Still, 33 (14.5%) were related to people with HIV serology unrealized or unknown. Regarding the use of male, 53.3% of men and 34.9% of women reported condom use in all sexual relations. Regarding the use of condoms and serology current partner, we identified that, despite higher condom use among couples soro diferentes HIV (81%) compared with couples where the partner's current serology is unknown (63.6%) and among couples sero concordant HIV (53.6%), also noted that it is not used between 15.2% where one partner had HIV status known, and 12.5% seroconcordant HIVamong couples and 4.8% even among serodiscordant couples knowingly HIV. It is necessary that the multidisciplinary teams are able to develop a qualified hearing, identify the contexts of vulnerability and promote educational spaces valuation of inter subjectivities to promote safe behaviors.
