Special Issue: Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine refers to the implementation of advanced translational medical research with relation to tissue engineering, molecular biology and other approaches to engineer and replenish towards regeneration of human cells, tissues or organs that can be utilized to restore or establish normal function based on the medical requirement of a patient.

It is known that the terminology “Regenerative medicine” was coined by William A. Haseltine, who first used this term in a 1992 article on hospital administration by Leland Kaiser. T

The promising field of Regenerative Medicine is occupied to re-establish the structure and function of damaged tissues and cells. Recent trends in Regenerative Medicine discusses regarding biomedical methodologies, clinical therapies that may involve the use of advanced therapeutic system such as stem cells. Such other examples include immunomodulation therapy (regeneration by biologically active molecules administered alone or as secretions by infused cells); cell therapies (the injection of stem cells or progenitor cells); tissue engineering (transplantation of laboratory grown organs and tissues) etc. While covering a broad range of applications, in practice the latter term is closely associated with applications that repair or replace portions of or whole muscles (i.e., bone, cartilage, blood vessels, bladder, skin). Often, the tissues involved require certain mechanical and structural properties for proper functioning. The term has also been applied to efforts to perform specific biochemical functions using cells within an artificially-created support system (e.g., artificial pancreas or liver).

The objective of this special issue is to publish recent important research outcomes and provide maximum possible information to the readers of this periodical.

Contributions from the author are welcome in the following subjects relevant to the core objective of the Regenerative medicine:
