Asthma is a chronic lung disease which narrows and inflames the airways. It can occur in individuals irrespective of their age, even in infants; most children with the illness developed it by about age five and more common in boys than in girls in early childhood and the tendency to develop it often runs in families. It causes breathing problems, with symptoms like coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. The rate of mortality rate for asthma in children aged between five and fourteen has noticed more in 1993 when compared in 1980. This is more common in individuals residing in rural and sub-urban areas. In USA nearly five million teenagers under age of 18 were suffering with this disorder. Asthma was the only reason for almost 340 deaths and more than 10 thousand hospital stays under the age of 25 years in 1993. 12.2% of children were diagnosed with asthma in the US 2002.
