     Disease pathophysiology:

    A disorder caused by an inherited flaw in the immune system that increases the susceptibility to infections.Primary immunodeficiency diseases are unlike secondary or acquired immune deficiency diseases, which are caused by infectious, chemical or radiological agents. AIDS is a prototype of an acquired immune deficiency disease.

    Most cases happen in babies or young children, but sometimes it doesn't show up until adulthood. There are many different types -- more than 200 -- and they affect different parts of the immune system. All make it more likely that he'll get sick from infections. Primary immunodeficiency disorders (PIDs) comprise more than 150 different disorders that affect the development, function, or both of the immune system.
