Thyroid Cancer is a disease that you get when unusual cells start to develop in thyroid organ. It forms like a butterfly and is situated in the front of your neck. It makes hormones that controls & becomes active with the body work regularly.
Symptoms are swelling neck, breathing difficulty, steady wheezing & hacking voice. Treatment includes Surgery to remove the part of the thyroid gland, radioactive iodine to destroy any remaining thyroid tissue. TSH suppression therapy prevents any remaining cancer cells.
Ongoing Research is being done at Thyroid Cancer Centers. The number of new cases of thyroid cancer was 13.5% in men and women per year. The number of deaths was 0.5% in men and women per year. Approximately 1.1% of men and women will be diagnosed with thyroid cancer at some point during their lifetime.
