The Research Institute of Automotive Engineering and Vehicle Engines Stuttgart (FKFS) is a public-law foundation and was founded in 1930. It is one of the best-known German research institutes and partner of the international automotive and supplier industry. Highly qualified and motivated staff provide research and development projects in the fields of propulsion, automotive engineering and automotive mechatronics. The university organizes the Stuttgart International Summer School in cooperation with University of Stuttgart, The Ohio State University, Clemson University and e-mobil BW. The Summer School is an educational program for working engineers to get systems.

From 9 to 11 October 2017, the Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition takes place for the 30th time. This event is the most important symposium in electro mobility.
