The Institute of Psychiatric Research (IIP) is an organization that is part of the Mª Josefa Recio Foundation. It is located in Bilbao, in the Neurological Rehabilitation Center of the Aita Menni Hospital.
The Institute of Psychiatric Research began to be developed at the end of 1993, on the initiative of the Provincial Government of the Canonical Province of Palencia, with the purpose of developing, promoting and regulating research in the Centers of that Province. Throughout 1994 And 1995, its functions were defined in its internal organization, such as its relationship with the centers and with the Provincial Government. It is in 1995 that the Institute of Psychiatric Research is integrated into the Mª Josefa Recio Foundation which is henceforth the legal framework of the Institute.
The Institute is born to serve the research purpose of the Congregation, and accommodates its structure and functioning to the structure and functioning of it. The Foundation assumes the commission from the competences that allow articles 6 and concordant of its Statutes.

Scientific advice
The Institute of Psychiatric Research makes available to professionals interested in the field of clinical and epidemiological research a comprehensive counseling service.
Elaboration of protocols: Drafting, elaboration and advice in the drafting of research protocols in order to establish the methodological bases of the study and in order to obtain possible financing.
Elaboration of Data Collection Notebooks (CRDs): Design and elaboration of CRDs in the format that best suits the study.
Elaboration of informed consent: We advise on the ethical and legal aspects that surround the field of research. Likewise, we made efforts towards the presentation of the study protocol before an Ethics Committee for Scientific Research (CEIC).
Systematic reviews: Tracing of different databases in search of available evidence.
Design of databases (BBDD): Design and implementation of BBDD in which the user enters the data in a logical and orderly manner for further statistical analysis.
Statistical analysis: A fundamental part of obtaining results.
The IIP has a methodologist specialized in the use and management of different statistical analysis software (R Statistics, STATA, SPSS, SAS) concoer of different techniques and models of analysis (Bayesians, regression models, met analysis, data mining , Advanced statistics).
Drafting of scientific texts: The result of the entire research process is the publication (justification, methods and results obtained in the project).
We advise on the orientation of the publication in view of the impact factor of the text and the regulations in force in each journal.
Registration of research projects: We register the research projects in different scientific databases.

Workshop on the overload in the caregiver of the patient with dementia:
Concept of the overload, measurement of the overload and intervention on the caregiver from an integral perspective (education, patient management, improvement of aspects of daily life and improvement of self-care).
The course includes theoretical and practical classes, as well as documentation of the intervention developed for the EDUCA-II study.
Workshop on the overload in the caregiver of the patient with schizophrenia or schizfective disorder:
Concept of overload, measurement of overload and intervention on the caregiver from an integral perspective (education, patient management, improvement of aspects of daily life and improvement of the Self-care).
The course includes theoretical and practical classes, as well as documentation of the intervention developed for the EDUCA-III study.
