Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam is a unitary university with 16 departments having 52 programme options: five postgraduate diploma, four undergraduate, 16 postgraduate, 14 M.Phil. and 14 Ph.D. programmes. It has 5 different departments which are Schools of Sciences, Schools of Social Sciences, Humanities and Management, School of Engineering and Technology, School of Nursing and School of distance education. The university is accredited with four stars by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Established under the sponsorship of DSIR, New Delhi in SPMVV, Tirupati during 2008-09 was involved in monitoring several innovative Technical Proposals and Promoting Innovations in Individuals, Start-Ups and MSMEs (TOCIC-PRISM). It is one of the 13 centres in India promoting Innovative talent. The objective is to promote individual innovators through support mechanism at various stages to become technology based entrepreneurs (Technopreneurs). TOCIC, SPMVV is engaged in organizing several awareness programmes for the members in Science & Technology fields and general public in and around Andhra Pradesh. The university has approximately 3,000 students. Prof.Durga Bhavani has made major contribution in the area of Media & Technology through various research projects and publications, training programmes to sensitize youth, women and children. She has completed five major research projects and the results are published in national and international journals and also presented in the international conferences at Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, New Delhi and Hyderabad. She has authored research articles, edited books and journals, contributed newspaper articles and produced many radio programmes.
