Increased native MMP-2 expression and ECM deposition by cardiac fibroblasts is seen early at day 1. By day 6, MMP-2 expression is still prominent with stiffness values consistent with observed ECM levels. However, a shift towards more active matrix remodeling is seen by day 14, with decreased MMP-2 and ECM levels and decreased stiffness. |
