Peripherin (red) and S100 (green) expression in the muscle adjacent to the injection site without bFGF (A) and with bFGF (C) revealed the presence of ganglion-like structures (triangle) not present in the native stomach musculature. Peripherin (red) and synaptophysin (green) expression in the muscle adjacent to the injection site without bFGF (B) and with bFGF (D) revealed the presence of synaptic vesicles at the newly formed ganglion-like structures.
