| Figure 3: PCR-based assays to detect AFB1-producing genes in Aspergillus flavus. Two major genes (aflR and aflS) for AFB1 production were amplified by PCR. Both clinical and non-clinical isolates of A. flavus showed the presence of aflR (400bp) and aflS (489bp), except C3, where aflR was undetected (A and B). DNA from the fungus, Fusarium solani [F] was used as a primerspecificity control. Region of 18S ribosomal DNA (359bp) was amplified as a positive control (C). Ladder used was of 100bp. |
