| Figure 5: Migration assays using cultured EPCs. The evaluation of BMderived EPCs migratory capacity was done using hSDF-1 (10, 100, and 200 ng/ml) and hVEGF (10, 50, and 100 ng/ml). Cell numbers of at least five highpower fields (100X) were counted for all time points, and results are compared to previous time point. Figure 5-a. For all concentrations used (except 200 ng/ ml at 90 days), we observed a proportionate decrease in the migratory capacity of EPCs to SDF-1 (*P<0.05; and **P<0.05 compared with 45 days). Figure 5-b. Functional studies using VEGF showed also a decreased migration, however results obtained were less pronounced (*P<0.05; **P<0.05 compared with 45 days). |
