Biography

 

 
IDr. Moffett attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, receiving her B.S. in 1982. From 1982-1984 she worked for Wyeth Labs in Radnor, PA as a chemist before attending Penn State-Hershey, receiving her M.D. degree in 1988.  She did a pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron from 1988-1991and served as chief resident in pediatrics from 1991-1992.  She was a fellow in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Emory University (1992-1994) and in 1988 she spent 3 months in  Zimbabwe as a medical student. In 1994 she also performed a 6 week fellowship at the International Center for Diarrhea Disease Research Hospital, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B).  From 1994-1996 she has worked at E. Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee and Pinnacle Health Systems in Harrisburg, PA from 1996-1998. In 1998 she joined the faculty at West Virginia University (WVU).  While in Harrisburg Dr. Moffett became a member of the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) care team, and has continued to care for CF patients at WVU.  In 1999, Dr. Moffett was named the Center Director for the Mountain State CF Center. In 2003 she had the opportunity to attend the Harvard Course on Palliative Care.   
Research Interest

Dr. Moffett teaches several annual courses at WVU:  MSII Microbiology course,  MSII Ethics, Nurse Practitioner Core Curriculum in Infectious Diseases, and the WVU Tropical Medicine course.  She is Co-Clerkship Director, involved in the MSIII core curriculum for pediatrics and she consults on the pediatric wards for Cystic Fibrosis and Infectious Diseases 26 weeks/year teaching of residents and medical students.  She also teaches Medical Students/Residents/Fellows in the outpatient clinic (cystic fibrosis & infectious diseases).  Research interests include cystic fibrosis, with ongoing clinical trials in  CF, vaccines in children, and medical ethics & palliative care of chronic diseases in children.
