Biography
Dr. Martin Filion is Associate Professor of Department of Biology at the Université de Moncton, Canada. He has over 40 peer reviewed publications and is funded by the NIH, VA , NSF and several foundations. His international experience includes various programs, contributions and participation in different countries for diverse fields of study.  His research interests reflect in his wide range of publications in various national and international journals.
Research Interest
His research interest lies in the field of molecular plant/microbe and microbe/microbe interactions occurring in the rhizosphere of plants. Among the different projects conducted by my research team, some target bacterial strains that have the genetic potential to be used as biocontrol agents against plant pathogens. We are also interested by the general impact that rhizosphere-inhabiting microorganisms may have on the growth, physiology and survival of plants. Finally, other related projects investigate, using various culture-independent molecular tools, the microbial diversity found in the rhizosphere of different plant species. Most of these projects are conducted to address ecological and functional relevant questions.
