RAVI RAGHAVBHAI SONANI Biotechnology BRD School of Biosciences Sardar Patel University India

Biography
Ravi R. Sonani completed his bachelor (in 2009) and master (in 2009) in biotechnology from Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar. Since 2012, he has joined the BRD School of Biosciences , Sardar Patel University as PhD student. He is the recipient of very prestigious award called INSPIRE, Department of Science and Technology. Currently, he is working as INSPIRE-SRF fellow in BRD School of Biosciences of Sardar Patel University. Recently, he received the Raman-Charpak fellowship 2015-16 to visit the France. Besides these, he has significantly contributed in the field of photobiology, photochemistry and structural biology of cyanobacterial phycobiliprotiens. The same is also reflected by the couple of his research publications in journal of international repute.
Research Interest
Since last five year, Ravi R Sonani is working in the field of ‘The structure and function of cyanobacterial phycobilisome’. His work has increasingly concentrate on the phenomenon of light harvesting, energy transfer - and the structure/function of the pigment-protein complexes involved in these processes. A wide variety of experimental approaches have been used, including protein crystallography, absorbance and fluorescence emission spectroscopy, mass spectroscopy and molecular biology. He is now focusing on the therapeutic application of the phycobiliproteins by using various model organisms including C. elegans and D. melanogaster. His work involves a wide range of collaboration within and out of Indian science community.
