Dr Trisha Peel (MBBShons, FRACP, PhD) is physician and an NHMRC Early Career Fellow with an emerging national and international research reputation in clinical and health economic outcomes following surgery. Dr Peel is a Chief Investigator on the NHMRC Health Services CRE - National Centre for Antimicrobial Stewardship (APP1079625) awarded in 2014. She is an academic physician in the Department of Surgery, University of Melbourne. In addition she holds appointments at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne as an honorary Orthopaedic Fellow, at Epworth Health Care as an Antimicrobial Stewardship Physician and at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA as a Research Collaborator. Dr Peel was awarded her PhD in 2013 examining the diagnosis, treatment, outcomes and costs of orthopaedic infections and completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, USA. She has subsequently been awarded an NHMRC ECF (APP1069374) and is CIB on an NHMRC project grant (APP1057736); ACAISA study, a RCT looking at surgical site infection prevention. She is currently enrolled in a Masters in Clinical Research Methods, Monash University. She is an invited member of the International Consensus Group on Peri-Prosthetic Joint Infections. To date her research has received over $3.6million in funding from NHMRC, RACP, University and benevolent foundations, the majority of which has been received in the year since completion of her doctoral studies.
