Reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the moral competence scale for public health

nurses: A methodological study

Objective:

The objective is to adapt a moral competence scale for use with public health nurses in

urkey.

Method

: The study has been conducted with 138 nurses working in family and public health centers in Erzurum in Eastern

Turkey. The Turkish version of the moral competence scale for public health nurses have been applied and conducted

methodologically. The data has been assessed with factor and internal consistency analysis.

Findings

: For language validity, the scale was translated into Turkish by one translator, and translated back into English by

another. The total variance has been specified as three factors as 67.50%. The Turkish version moral competence scale for public

health nurses Cronbach’s alpha values were 0.83 for factor one, 0.91 for factor two, 0.87 for factor three and 0.88 for the scale

as a whole.

Conclusion

: A Turkish version of the moral competence scale for public health nurses is a valid and reliable assessment tool.
