Abstract:

A large number of studies have been reported the use of lasers in the field of periodontal therapy. Laser therapy has been gradually introduced in dentistry and successfully applied clinically since the early 1990s. The use of laser is considered effective and suitable for treating a variety of inflammatory and infections conditions, such as periodontal and peri-implant diseases. In addition, laser therapy may alleviate a patient??s physical and mental stress as well as intraoperative and postoperative pain. Various dental lasers have been used for soft and hard tissue periodontal therapy. With increasing evidence for benefits, laser therapy plays an important role in wound healing, tissue regeneration, disinfection in the treatment of oral diseases. We have observed in our clinical practices some excellent results from applying the periodontal protocol to cases of periimplantitis. Benefits of using lasers are real!
