"Food poisoning" is a general name given to illnesses featured by consuming contaminated food or water that has gone bad or is contaminated. There are two kinds of food poisoning: infectious agent, toxic agent. Food intoxication also known as food poisoning in which food contains toxins.
Food poisoning may be caused due to the micro-organisms like pathogenic bacteria, viruses, prions or parasites commonly called "germs: or "bugs". Illness can also be caused by chemical contaminants (such as heavy metals), toxins produced by the micro-organisms .
Symptoms and Treatment
Food poisoning may be symptom-free or may have symptoms ranging from mild intestinal discomfort to severe dehydration and bloody diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea, fever, abdominal cramping, dehydration, rectal bleeding, and bloating. It can be treated by drinking plenty of water to avoid dehydration ,to replace the fluids lost through vomiting and diarrhoea. Take rest as much as possible, eat when you feel up to it.
Overall, the pathogens listed in T cause an estimated 181,177 hospitalizations each year, of which 60,854 are attributable to foodborne transmission . Excluding hospitalizations for infection with Listeria, Toxoplasma, and hepatitis A virus, 163,015 hospitalizations for acute gastroenteritis are caused by known pathogens, of which 55,512 (34%) are attributable to foodborne transmission.
