If Body mass index (BMI) is more than 85%, will be considered as overweight and if it is above 95% it will be considered as the individual is obese. Childhood obesity is a growing epidemic in the United States. It affects more than 30 percent of children, making it the most common chronic disease of childhood. This number has more than tripled since 1980. The prevalence of childhood overweight/obesity in Singapore has increased over the past few decades and currently stands at 11%.
