    Opisthorchis viverrini is termed as the Southeast Asian liver fluke and O. felineus as the cat liver fluke. Opisthorchis species are liver fluke parasites (trematodes or worms). Infection on longer duration an enlarged liver and malnutrition may occur. The average prevalence of OV infection was found to be 24.5%, ranging from 2.1% to 70.8% in different districts. The highest prevalence rate of infection in both cats and dogs were Ancylostoma spp, in 64.1% and 77.3%, respectively.

    Praziquantel as a primary element in a preventing the infection. Even though prevalence is decreased but the results show that the prevalence of O. viverrini infections are still high. A solution for infection prevention needs to be quickly investigated especially for middle-aged males. When people engage in less risky behaviors, the need and consumption of anti-anthelminthic treatment will be reduced.
