Academy of Osseointegration (AO)

For North America in 1982 after the introduction of osseointegration, a group of dentists from the Greater New York area. Later, a study group to research and share information formed club. The local study club eventually concluded that a national organization in the region and promote the advancement of education was required. As a result, the Academy of Osseointegration was established.

Consist 6,000 members in 70 countries around the world, to professionals interested in AO Implant Dentistry is recognized as the leading international association. AO Nexus One can come up with the experts and the general emerging research, technology, and techniques to evaluate the acts; the best information sharing; and timely, evidence-based science and optimal patient care coordination methods.

AO Executive Board's first annual meeting held in Chicago in 1986, a pro-temple were oral surgery, periodontics, and general practice to include representation for Prosthodontics and was elected. The Academy and its affiliate, Osseointegration Foundation was incorporated in 1987.

Patient care, research and education to the highest standards of the Academy of Osseointegration dedication reason so many professionals aligned themselves with this pioneering organization has decided to live.

For over 31 years, the Academy of Osseointegration Annual Meeting and local study group met throughout North America. Ao members from countries around the world that offer the local chapter of the Charter through educational programs and networking sessions gather. AO Annual Meeting attendance continues to increase and now dentists, researchers and ancillary businesses are considered to be among the leading international academic conferences. AO subscription now more than 6,000 professionals in over 70 countries are over.

Officers and directors are elected at-large board, which determines the direction of the Academy and its administration, including overseeing. Policies and on-going activities and ad hoc committees are influenced by the position of the Academy. Day-to-day operations are conducted by professional staff of the Academy.
