Alabama Society for Healthcare Engineering is the professional society for skills development and education and standards of the engineering discipline as performed in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. The members of this society increases their knowledge and advocate for science based codes and standards which improve patient and associate safety. This society helps their members to develop their professional abilities and provide opportunities to exchange ideas and keep abreast of their discipline through various meetings and contacts with other members. They build the networks among healthcare professionals and improve the healthcare environment responsibility. Healthcare Engineering is the discipline of science which involved in diagnosis, treatment, presentation and management of poor health, as well as the preservation and improvement of mental health and physical health and well-being, through the services offered to humans by the allied and medical health professions. Members of this society create a health care physical environment and build, design, maintain and operate of hospitals and other health care facilities, mainly engineering activities in healthcare. The main purpose of healthcare engineers is to improve human health and well-being through engineering approaches. The members of this society are mainly engineers from disciplines such as Civil, Biomedical, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, Environmental, Information, Materials, Mechanical, Software, and Systems Engineering, and healthcare professionals such as dentists physicians, nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and health scientists, who are engaged in improving, supporting, and/or advancing any aspect of healthcare through engineering approaches, in accordance with the above definition of Healthcare Engineering.
