The AASP is quietly a young organization started in 1994 at the colloquy of the American Psychological Association, succeeded the structural reorganization of the ABPP.  Contribution to the Development and upkeep of psychology practice at its high level was the motive behind the emergence of American Academy of School Psychology (AASP). Sarah Valley-Gray from Nova Southeastern University, Florida represents the current president of the academy. It is an organization which provides healthcare service of professional psychology that mainly concerned with the science and practice of psychology with children, youth, families ETC. The School psychologists have advance knowledge of theories and empirical findings in developmental and social psychology, and advancing psychopathology with effective instructional process like recognize the schools, workplace, understand the environment of that place and comprehending the organization, schools, agencies, assess the developmental needs to meet those diverse need to fulfil their commitment and apply the principles of learning within the surroundings, Improving the organization by coordinating the educational, psychological and behavioural health services by working at the basics of these systems and developing an effective partnership between parents, educators and caretakers.  The special focus of the certified members is the developmental process of children and youth within every context and prepares the members of organization to provide the range of psychological diagnosis, assessment, prevention, health promotion etc. It is the membership organization for School psychologist who has a Diploma in School Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). AASP has a charge of recruitment of certified school psychologists for board certification and functions as a membership organization for board certified school psychologist and performing specific activities like to elect the members of American Board of School Psychology, to identify eligible AASP members that served as mentors of new candidates. According to an author the potential activities of the organization are: Advancement of Diplomating of School Psychologist and to encourage the professional development activity, work for the recognition of psychology in all the areas of practice through the involvement in advocacy activities, providing scientific practice to the psychology practice and the advancement of the standard of education, training, and credentialing for the school psychology specialty. All the members of the Association are designated to a particular rank from the examiner to the person which culminates in the awarding of diplomate credentials. The ABPP Diplomate is the highest practitioner credential. As per the latest count the AASP had 224 school psychology Diplomates.
