American Association for Respiratory Care

AARC is a non-profit organization and there is no more professional organization supporting respiratory care in the United States. Besides trying to help push for national and local legislation beneficial, the American Association for Respiratory Care is initiating to discover the best interest of the profession as a whole to increase interest and membership. The AARC began in 1943 as a technician Inhalation Association and evolved quickly and several times since. AARC will continue to be the main national and international professional relationship for respiratory consideration. The AARC will support and promote professional excellence, to advance the science also, routine of respiratory care, and serve as a backer for patients, the families of the patients, the public, the profession and the respiratory therapist. The Chicago University Hospital as respiratory therapy Association (ITA) in 1946 and in 1947, the ITA is chartered as a nonprofit entity in the state of Illinois. The ITA was renamed the American Association of Respiratory Therapists (AAIT) in 1954, and again changed its name in 1966 to the American Association of inhalation therapy. The AAIT was again named as American Association of Respiratory Therapy (AART) in 1973 and finally took the current name of the American Association of Respiratory Care in 1986.
