American Behcet’s Disease Association

Initially known as the American behcet's foundation, the association was founded in 1978 in Orange County, CA, by Sheila Gregory, the mother of a youthful Behcet patient. The name of the organization has changed throughout the years, but its goal of support, education, advocacy and research continues. In 1986, the organization was moved to Rochester. In 1987, it was integrate as a non-profit association under the name of American Behcet's Association. The Medical Advisory Board was founded in 1988. The Internal Revenue Service permitted non-profit status to the ABA in 1989. In 1989 the name was modify to American Behcet's Disease Association (ABDA), with the motive of clarifying the nature and mission of the association. Presently, the ABDA Business workplace is located in Rochester, Michigan. Our Correspondence and Database Coordinator is based in New York, and the all volunteers, Executive Board members and Behcet's community members are scattered throughout the country.
