American Orthopaedic Association

The American orthopaedic Association [AOA] is the oldest and most distinguished orthopaedic association in the world. The AOA provides orthopaedic surgeons with information and skills necessary to guide effectively within the dynamic landscape of the health care atmosphere, through its numerous bodies of orthopaedic leaders, the AOA focuses on leadership, academic, and significant problems related to the specialty. AOA is an organization that ensures the ability of its leaders altogether facets: personal, professional, civic, and educational. The AOA is determined to meet the responsibilities of leadership through unselfish and accountable motivation. AOA embraces expertness at each level within the organization; members, volunteers and association management. AOA aspires to reinforce dignity and professionalism in orthopaedics and everyday life. it has had vital involvement in the founding of many major orthopaedic organizations, including: Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (1889), American Academy of orthopaedic Surgeons (1933), American Board of orthopaedic Surgeons (1934), Orthopaedic research & Education Foundation (1953), OMeGA Medical Grants Association (2008) In 2003, the academic orthopaedic Society (AOS) was incorporated into the AOA. This positioned the AOA as the formal home and supporter of Department Chairs, Program directors, Fellowship directors and academic faculty, furthering the AOA's commitment to academics. The first Annual Meeting of the AOA was was conducted on June fifteen, 1887 at the Academy of medicine in New York. Thirty six charter members were present at the meeting, where a constitution and bylaws were adopted. The AOA conjointly looks inward, challenging every member of the community to create individual contributions to help the organization in delivering on its mission. The American orthopaedic Association organizes annual conferences and webinars every year. AOA conferences content have a novel leadership and/or academic focus, whether the format is an in-person meeting or forum, or an on-demand course or live webinar. AOA's Traveling Fellowships and Awards are both designed to foster leadership inside the discipline of orthopaedic medicine and acknowledge leaders for his or her contributions and achievements.
