American Society for Bone and Mineral Research

To promote distinction in the bone and mineral research and to enable the translation of that research into clinical practice, Claude Arnaud, John Potts, Lawrence Riggs, Louis Avioli, Norman Bell, William Peck, Lawrence Raisz, and Shirley Hohl, in November 1977 incorporated ASBMR as a premier, non-profit, professional, scientific, and a medical society. The first ASBMR Annual Meeting was scheduled on June 11 and 12, 1979 at Anaheim, California, with 150 people in attendance. In 1986, the ASBMR printed its first official publication: the peer-reviewed bi-monthly Journal of Bone and Mineral Research. With approximately more 4,000 members from across the continents, the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research and Primer on Metabolic Bone Disease and Disorders of Mineral Metabolism, ASBMR remains a pioneering frontrunner in the field of bone and mineral metabolism. The society has always maintained its commitment towards innovation and promoting young researcher participation, an open Annual Meeting and being front-runner and supportive in determining new techniques, all the while, retaining the purity of the scientific research.
