American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science

American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science is a revolution for practitioners seeking support for enhancement and betterment of Laboratory Science since 1933. ASCLC was founded in 1932, first established as the American Society for Medical Technology (ASMT) in the year 1933 and incorporated in 1936, ensuring quality practice to promote scientific efforts, educational needs and clinical aspirations of scientist and researchers.  The main focus of the ASMT at the beginning was to maintain the credibility, later induced laws and constitution, inception of a journal and education about the profession. Before 1947, ASMT held conventions with the group of physicians; in 1947 ASMT held first independent convection, laying another credential to the society’s history. In 1960s and 1970 ASMT grew its member in considerable number joining with the association named International Association of Medical Laboratory Technologists, together with Central Michigan University initiated a programs for laboratorians to earn master's degrees and formed National Certification Agency (NCA) to progressive "certification for the profession, by the profession," thus shifting its headquarters from Michigan to Texas in the year 1949 to Washington, D.C. in 1986. ASMT became ASCLS in 1990 after joining the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) to present one of the largest annual meetings of laboratorians in the country. ASCLS is vitally supported by ASCLS committees to function at their highest level. Development and effectiveness of the organization is maintained by conducting meeting on a regular basis. ASCLS has a newsletter named ASLCS Today, publishing association’s activities in educational and legislative arenas. Also, the journal of ASLCS is award winning, quarterly journal featuring latest research, government actions; educating professionals in the field.
