American Society for Gravitational and Space Biology

The American Society for Gravitational and Space Research (ASGSR), founded in 1984 was previously known as the American Society for Gravitational and Space Biology (ASGSB). From June 2012, it became to be known as ASGSR when the membership voting regarding expansion of the charter to include physical sciences took place, thereupon reinforcing the gravitational research community. The previous version of this organization was established in 1984 and it provided a conclave to encourage potential research, education and professional development in the diverse fields of gravitational and life and physical science research. ASGSR brings a group of scientists and engineers from various fields together to promote and share ideas bridging basic as well as applied biological and physical science research and technology both in space and on the ground. The organization is devoted to further develop the field of gravitational research. The members represent government, academia and industry interests attached to  a common issue that involves how physcial systems and living organisms respond to gravity (e.g. low-gravity, hyper-gravity, etc.)The focus of ASGSR is to develop biological and physical science research in, of and for space by bringing professional communities which are linked to gravitational biology, physical sciences, bioastronautics, radiation biology and astrobiology in cooperating and mentoring the future scientific and engineering leaders in these fields. Any issue faced by the Society are handled by an elected Board of Directors led by a member elected president, and an executive committee (past president, current president and president-elect). The everyday affairs are managed by the executive director. ASGSR is a non-profit society, therefore contributions to the society are not tax deductible. The Gravitational and Space Research is the peer reviewed journal of the American Society for Gravitational and Space Biology. In 2016,its 4th volume was published.
