ASEAN Neurosurgical Society

ASEAN Neurosurgical Society consists of neurosurgeons members of their national neurosurgical societies in the ASEAN countries. The society was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok by the five original Member Countries, namely, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. The ASEAN organizes, the ASEAN Congress of Neurological Surgery once every two years. The Congress is held in one of the countries like Singapore or Malaysia of any other among the 5 countries and it is organised by the national neurosurgical society of that country.The ASEAN Neurosurgical Society is a private public society organisation (CSO) registered with ASEAN and the WHO. It was founded in 1972 by neurosurgeons from the ASEAN countries with the following missions:

To provide a platform for professionals, to exchange ideas and advancements among NEUROSURGEONS within ASEAN, to publicize social contact and culture friendship and good relation among its members,  to enhance good professional practice and promote the advancement of Neurosurgery, to accompaniment the efforts of the ASEAN governments in promoting regional cooperation and solidarity in the areas of medical education and health care, and to operate whatever functions as may be entrusted to the ASEAN Neurological Society.The latest 16th ASEAN Congress of Neurological Surgery, was held on 30-31, July 2015. In Singapore, where for the first time neurosurgeons and neurologists have gathered together to share and exchange the knowledge of clinical neurosciences.
