Asia Cornea Society was established with a common vision to gather all the specialists and researchers across Asia to expand the knowledge and information of research aspects of corneal subspecialty and special focus was kept on Asia Corneal diseases. The extent of corneal subspecialty that the ACS points its attention on incorporates, however is not constrained to corneal and outer eye sicknesses, visual surface issue, corneal transplantation and different types of corneal surgery, including keratoprosthesis surgery, corneal refractive surgery, the restorative contact focal point field and eye managing an account. The general public is committed to giving a discussion to local collaboration in order to propel the improvement of these fields of ophthalmology in Asia, and to add to global advancement in this field, with a definitive point of lightening of corneal visual impairment.
A Pro Tem Council Meeting of the Asia Cornea Society was gathered with individuals from the past Asia-Pacific Society of Cornea and Refractive Surgery and additionally other driving cornea masters from a few Asian nations, including China, Japan, India, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand on 4 March 2007 amid the Asia-ARVO Meeting in Singapore. The main theme of the meeting is to develop the vision and mission and objectives of the society and to elect some of the members for the board. Professor Donald Tan unanimously elected to be the first President of ACS. Professor Teruo Nishida and Professor Arthur Lim were also appointed to serve as Honorary President and Honorary Senior Advisor to the Society.
