Association for Contextual Behavioral Science was founded in 2005 and incorporated in 2007.  In August 2005 a planning committee was formed to guide the establishment of association. The primary duties of the committee were to construct and approve the bylaws, determine the policies and decide upon the official name of the association and procedures of the website.  The alleviation of human suffering and the up gradation of human well-being through research and practice grounded in contextual behavioral science are the main dedication of ACBS. ACBS’s present president is Daniel D.J. Moran and past president was Michael P.Twohig. Professional, students and affiliate members are welcomed in the Association. There are few committees in ACBS and known as ACBS Committees. These are- Conference strategy committee, Publications committee, Training committee, Program committee, CE committee, Membership committee, committee on Diversity, Chapters and SIGS committee, Past president committee,  Communication committee, CE committee,    Developing nation committee, Investment committee, Awards committee. ACBS is an international community of scholars, researchers, educators and others.

Association for Contextual Behavioral Science was authorizes in 2005 and has about 8300 members. There are 41 Association for Contextual Behavioral Science chapters covering many areas of the world which includes Japan, Holland, Italy, Belgium, Australia/New Zealand, France, Spain, the Balkans, the United Kingdom and Turkey. There are also 29 Special Interest Groups covering a broad range of basic and applied areas. These are developing nations, ACT for the Public, social work, stigma, children and adolescents, veteran's affairs and many other areas.  Few activities of ACBS are ACBS sponsors an annual conference. It is the World Conference on Contextual Behavioral Science. On July 14–19, 2015, the 13th annual meeting was held in Berlin, Germany. And on June 14–19, 2016, the 14th annual meeting was held in Seattle. And on June 20–25, 2017, the 2017 meeting will be held in Seville, Spain.
