Association of European Latin Americanist Historians -AHILA-

In 1889, the association was established in Columbia District by an act of Congress: “for the encouragement of historical studies, the assemblage and preservation of historical manuscripts and for similar purposes in the interest of American history ‘’ .The association offices is in Washington, DC, and that it provide reports to the secretary of the Smithsonian Institution regarding historical matters , which ultimately received by Congress as fit. From its inception, the Association has been committed to the preservation, collection , and dissemination of historical documents. Following the tradition, the AHILA staff compute and posts essays , reports and other materials from the past of Association. Recognizing that a specific field was rising , historians in certain number suggested an organization with high professional ideals for historical research and training .In the annual meeting of the American Social Science Association  all the teachers, professors and others interested in the advancement of history were gather in Saratoga, New York. Inspite of  the opposition by John Eaton ASSA’s president, the historians present voted to establish the Association of European Latin Americanist Historians  as a separate organization.
