ÖGHMP is abbreviated as Österreichische Gesellschaft für Hygiene, Mikrobiologie und Präventivmedizin and also known as the Austrian Society for Hygiene, Microbiology and Preventive Medicine was founded in 1925 and it is the national partner for hygiene specialists in different disciplines such as Veterinary Medicine, Human Medicine, Water Hygiene, Food Hygiene.
Objectives of the Society are the promotion of hygiene, microbiology and preventive medicine in its sub-areas in scientific and practical terms, safeguarding the cooperation of the Austrian hygienists, microbiologists and preventive medicine and together with scientists from other fields in the interests of scientific progress, the promotion of international cooperation in the field of Hygiene, Microbiology and Preventive Medicine, recommending authorities, public organization law and interest groups but also of individuals and companies that deal with tasks of public health and population health, in staples of hygiene, microbiology and defensive medicine encouraging younger scholars from relevant fields by awarding scientific prizes.
