Austrian Society of Haematology and Medical Oncology (ÖGHO) is the skilled association of HämatologInnen and oncologists and has set itself the objective of creating the care of patients throughout Austria to the highest standard.
Tasks and objectives
In the interest of patients and relatives the ÖGHO aims to advance information of stakeholders and optimize the care of patients with cancer and blood diseases from prevention through early detection and diagnosis to treatment and aftercare.
Funding is one of the vital objectives of the ÖGHO. Progress and novelty in hematology & oncology based on continuous, quality-full, pre-clinical, translational and clinical research. The training of young researchers is an significant prerequisite. Therefore ÖGHO supporting young researchers and novel innovative research concepts in the laboratory and clinic together with through scholarships, grants and research awards and promotes scientific communication and exchange of experience in various fields of research through the establishment of expert platforms and the organization of scientific seminars, workshops and symposia. Additionally forgives ÖGHO sponsorship and financial contributions to support academic, GCP-compliant study programs and national registers for blood diseases and tumors.
Research funding: The Austrian Society for Hematology & Medical Oncology awards since 2008 research grants to young scientists. Annually reach a Research Promotion Price (50 000 EUR) and a research grant (15,000 EUR) to tender.
