Austrian Society of Nephrology

Nephrology is a branch of internal medicine dealing with kidney disease. The term comes from ancient Greek, where the word "nephros" for "kidneys" is. Nephrologists are thus doctors who specialize in diseases of these organs. Their activities include the early detection, diagnostic differentiation of the disease, the assessment of functional disorders and the implementation of non-surgical therapies.

The Austrian Society of Nephrology  activity is not profit, seeks close cooperation with the Austrian nephrologists. His remit covers the entire field of clinical nephrology, but includes, in particular to promote the exchange practical therapeutic experience and scientific research, the management of eventual negotiations with authorities in Austria and the coordination of organizational tasks, in particular by dialysis and kidney, and the promotion of the company and the Ausbaues dialysis specialist departments in Austria including home dialysis. This purpose will be achieved through meetings, through public-scientific meetings or other events. Far to initiate and implement multicentric Austria further studies, are particularly encouraged to epidemiological area, as well as the acquisition of the activities of nephrologists in an Austria-wide register. The tasks of the association seeks to promote contacts and cooperation with entities of the same objectives at home and abroad.
