Austrian Statistical Society

The Austrian Statistical Society (ÖSG) is a non-profit association of statisticians / inside employed at universities and research institutions, in public administration, as well as in commercial and industry. History of ÖSG

The ÖSG was established in March 1951. Of the Department of Statistics, University of Vienna in 1949 established Statistical Association founded out. The objective was to create a common basis for scientific, official and Applied Statistics, which brought together all attentive in the statistics experts, public authorities and business organizations under one roof. This width of the company was then anchored in the statutes and provides until today the central characteristic of ÖSG represents.

Objectives of the Austrian Statistical Society

The company is non-profit and has the purpose to maintain the statistical science in all its areas and applications; the main areas of interest are in particular

2. The statistics used as a tool of research in all empirically oriented sciences such as the social sciences and economics, technical, organic and environmental sciences;

3. Official statistics, whose main task is to provide data for monitoring social, economic and environmental development, for early detection of problems and for planning, decision preparation and control measures.

The company's objective is to promote the teaching in the field of statistics, statistical training people the opportunity to extend their expertise to offer to spread an understanding of the basics of statistics in the public and maintain the connection between statistical theory and practical application.
