With an aim of promoting medical activities in human Cancer, diagnostic practices of high standards, mission of the Boston North Cancer Association came into existence. The main goal of this association is to provide funds or support special projects for the treatment of cancer. Earlier it was called as The Lynn Cancer Association. It is not-for-profit Corporation providing the societies and communities of the North Shore of Massachusetts with the ways and means for the cancer treatment, prevention. It is funded purely by donations and bequests of volunteers.
Funds will be transferred to health care facilities of the North Shore to treat the cancer patients with the latest equipment, also helps in educating the public about the prevention and treatment of cancer .The Association's Education Committee was established in 1926. The Education Committee was incorporated as a charitable organization in 1944 beneath the leadership of Carolyn Engler and became The Lynn Cancer Association, Inc. As the result of best services offered to the communities and organizations, the Association was officially re-named the Boston North Cancer Association, Inc. in 2011. At present, Susan McCarthy is the President of this Association. This organization also provides scholarships to the needy for continuing medical education in the field of oncology.
