Brazilian Society of Agrometeorology

The foundation of the Brazilian Society of Agrometeorology was held March 29, 1973, during the Week II of the Agricultural Meteorology studies held in Curitiba, with the name of the Brazilian Society of Agricultural Meteorology. The SBA current name assigned to it during the First Brazilian Congress of Agrometeorology in July 1979 in the city of Natal, RN.

The Brazilian Society of Agrometeorology - SBA is a legal entity of civil association, private, non-profit and for economic purposes, recorded by the second.

Its activities are related to the fields of agronomy, meteorology, physics, agricultural engineering, hydrology, geography, biology, Bioclimatologie, Micrometeorology, biophysics, Zoning Agricultural Water - Soil -plant Relations -Atmosphere, instrumentation, remote sensing, GIS, statistics Simulation and modeling, climate change, water resources, bioenergy and controlled environment and other areas relating to climate studies applied to agriculture, livestock and forestry.

The main objectives of the SBA are:

- Bring together the scientific and technical community to present and discuss the results of research in the respective fields already mentioned, related to agrométéorologie focusing on the benefits of this research to the welfare and security of the society;

- Promoting scientific and technical events (conferences, seminars), courses and workshops, national and international, to the scientific and technological development in the agro-meteorology sector in Brazil and Latin America;

- Edit and disseminate scientific technical papers in the Journal of Agrometeorologia- RBA .

The Journal of agricultural meteorology , is published twice a year in June and December appearing regularly since June 1999. In addition to regular issues , the Association also highlights the special issues of the magazine covering selected articles presented at a seminar conferences organized by the Association. The journal publishes original articles , documents, full length , short communications, and articles in addition to invited papers in English only. The research contributions of members of the Association are published after peer review and approved by the editorial board.
