British Nuclear Medicine Society established in 1966 as the Nuclear Medicine Society, its membership includes the clinicians dealing with the medical speciality, clinical scientists, radiopharmacists, other scientists, nuclear medicine technologists and nurses. BNMS Volunteer members, Officers and members of Council have represented the UK nuclear medicine community in a variety of significant projects and consultations through 2014. They have worked to improve standards of patient care through audits and surveys; supported the UK nuclear medicine workforce by developing training and standards and at the same time ensuring a safe working environment. The BNMS continues to work with national and international organisations to maintain the voice and profile of nuclear medicine. In 2015 the BNMS has: Launched the second wave of the BNMS Workforce Survey, Celebrated 25 years of the BNMS Clinical Practitioners’ Group, Held two successful scientific meetings with delegate numbers at their highest since 2008, Held joint meetings with BIR and BNMS sessions at UKRC2015 and ICIS, Launched the second wave of the UK&I DaTSCAN Audit, Provided continual information about the shortages in supply of medical radioisotopes, Introduced a student membership category to engage with full time students, Supported regional nuclear medicine meetings through promotion and CPD application, Acquired a new full-time member of staff, Caroline who will be leading on the BNMS workforce survey and website.
