Founded in the year of 1996, the British Society for Human Genetics as of now popularly known as the British Society for Genetic Medicine, given a forum for professionals involved in Genetics as a clinical service and research. Its membership is in limit of 2000 and includes a vas spectrum of clinical, laboratory and research deparments.
BSGM is a registered UK charity and Its roles are defined by its council & constitution.
In furtherance of the all mentioned objects but not otherwise the Society through its Council shall be belongs to:
(a) Hold meetings, lectures, discussion groups, conferences and symposia
(b) Act as an authoritative body for all the purpose of consultation every matters of public and professional interest
(c) Invite & receive contributions from all person or organisation by way of subscriptions or donations
(d) Collect subscriptions for all Constituent Groups from time to time borrow and raise buks for the promotion of the objects of the Society on all terms as the Council shall consider expedient and in the interests of the Society
(f) Support by means of funds or guarantees such activities of the Constituent Groups as the Council may consider expedient & in their interests of the Society
(g) Undertake and execute any charitable bodies which may be lawfully undertaken by the Society
