The Stephan Angeloff INSTITUTE OF MICROBIOLOGY, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) is a national exploration focus in microbiological sciences. Since its establishment the Institute's vital lines have been set up:
Bulgarian researcher Prof. Stephan Angeloff, Member of BAS, who had been its first executive for 15 years.The establishment of the Institute of Microbiology understood the need for an arrangement of an examination focus with national significance, which to do contemporary examinations in quickly creating and prosperous branches of microbiological science. Five units were established at first in the Institute: bacteriological (therapeutic, farming and mechanical bacteriology), protozoological, virological (examination of infections and viral ailments in man, creatures and plants), immunological and biochemical. The underlying time frame in the improvement of the Institute (1947 - 1962) was associated with the investigations of the genuine after the Second World War irresistible pathology of local creatures and people under the immediate authority of Prof. S. Angeloff and his first partner Prof. Ilia Kujumgiev.
