CA Association of School Health Educators

CASHE is a non-benefit, proficient association devoted to advancing and supporting school wellbeing instruction. CASHE was established in the spring of 1979 as an outgrowth of Associated Health Educators Los Angeles (AHELA), the authority LAUSD wellbeing instructor bunch. CASHE was the brainchild of Gail Rolf from Clay Junior High School and Ken Cross and Ric Loya from Huntington Park High School. The primary Board of Directors of CASHE included Ric Loya, President Gail Rolf, Vice President Mike Whittington of Long Beach Wilson, Treasurer Gary Schur from Nobel Junior High, Secretary and Members-everywhere Dave Ptashne from Kennedy High School, and Ruth Linden from Dorsey High School. The significance of having money for CASHE even existed in 1979 at which time yearly participation was FIVE dollars. Dr. Subside Cortese, Director of the Federal Office of Comprehensive Health, which later turned into the CDC Division of Adolescent and School Health, summed up his musings about CASHE when he said, "It's opportunity we [health teachers] quit being pushed around." So CASHE was conceived as an expert educators "union" of sorts to battle for wellbeing training. In conclusion, the huge buzz idea back in the establishing year was the evil, comrade plot in government funded schools called "values illumination." Our emphasis on the classroom wellbeing educator remains today; the President of CASHE must be a full time wellbeing instructor; notwithstanding, our participation incorporates all people supporting for wellbeing training. Mission of CASHE are increment wellbeing proficiency by pushing for a wellbeing training class prerequisite for secondary school graduation ; enhance and keep up the respectability of wellbeing instruction through political backing for the benefit of understudies, wellbeing instructors, and groups ; give access to data on current wellbeing patterns, curricular assets And make an expert home with systems administration open doors for wellbeing teachers.
